U19 World Cup-winning captain joined an elite list of batsmen on Thursday, 17 February, after scoring a debut century on his First Class debut. Dhull joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma in the list by keeping a collapse at bay for the Delhi team against Tamil Nadu.
While wickets tumbled on the other end, Dhull scored 113 off 150 balls and was included in two key partnerships with the senior batsmen in the team. First, he stitched up a rapid 60 off 56 balls alongside Nitish Rana and then further added 119 off 226 deliveries with Jonty Sindu.
The stars were aligned for Dhull today as he escaped a dismissal on 97 after being caught out on a no-ball.
At the time of writing, Delhi were 226/5 at the stroke of tea on Day 1 at Guwahati. Jonty Sindhu was not out at 63 with senior pro-Lalit Yadav batting at 7 runs.
This is the first of the Ranji Trophy season, that returns after a break of two years. An essential part of the domestic setup, the tournament was not played in between due to Covid related issues.
