Australian opener and former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRRH) skipper, David Warner, strolled down memory lane on Wednesday (February 16) as he posted a series of pictures with his ex-IPL teammate, Kane Williamson.
The left-handed opener took to his official Instagram account to post a series of pictures with the New Zealand and Sunrisers skipper, stating that he will miss playing alongside the latter.
He wrote, "Going to miss my breakfast time with the Williamson's and I will miss playing cricket with you brother."
Warner and Williamson shared the dressing room at (SRH) for a number of years, leading the 'Orange Army' to unprecedented success.
The 35-year old led the Sunrisers to their only title to date in 2016 besides spearheading the batting unit with ruthless disdain. Prior to the last season, the Australian southpaw smashed in excess of 500+ runs in six consecutive seasons.
However, his form nosedived last season, mirroring SRH's fortunes. It led to a shocking move from the Sunsisers management as they not only sacked him from leadership duties but also dropped him from the playing XI.
The Australian star was eventually replaced by Williamson as captain. He did make a comeback to the starting XI during the second half of the 14th season but was again dumped following a string of low scores.
The southpaw never featured for the side in the remainder of the season and was eventually released by the franchise ahead of the mega auction.
While Williamson was the first player that Hyderabad retained, the former SRH captain went in the auction where he got picked by his former franchise, Delhi Capitals, for a sum of Rs 6.25 Crores.
Williamson will lead the "Orange Army" in the upcoming seasons and the former champions will hope for a better campaign this year following a disastrous one in 2021.
The dasher made his IPL debut for the then Delhi Daredevils (now called Delhi Capitals) in 2009 and since then, he has gone on to become of the greatest-ever overseas cricketers to ever feature in the cash-rich league.
An absolute run-machine, Warner has played 150 games thus far, smashing 5449 runs at an average of 41.6 and a blistering strike rate of 139.7 with 54 fifty-plus scores, including four three-figure scores.
