Rajat Patidar has scripted his name into RCB history books by becoming the first franchise captain to win Player of the Match awards at both Chepauk and Wankhede. He did so during the IPL 2025 season which also happens to be his debut year as skipper.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru went through a captaincy transition this year. After a high-octane mega auction, the team decided to appoint Rajat Patidar as captain.

Patidar, who was retained for INR 11 crore, took over the leadership reigns and impressed by winning 3 of the first 4 games of the 2025 season.

Rajat Patidar Surpasses Ex-RCB Captains With Stellar Form

As a matter of fact, Rajat Patidar is leading his team from the front. In 4 games, he has scored 161 runs with a 40.25 average. Against CSK in Chepauk, he slammed 51 off 32 balls and won the player of the match award.

Moreover, in the recently concluded game against MI at Wankhede, Patidar hit a blistering 64 runs knock off just 32 balls to power RCB to a 221 runs total. His knock helped RCB beat MI by 12 runs in a last-over thriller game.

Hence, Patidar once again claimed the Player of the Match award for his heroics. With that, he became the only RCB captain in the history of the franchise to win Player of the Match awards in Chepauk and Wankhede in a single season.

With this rare double, Patidar has proven he thrives under pressure and loves the big occasions. His leadership and ability to deliver in hostile environments have added a new edge to RCB’s campaign.

RCB Captain Patidar Fined For Slow Over Rate

Rajat Patidar’s high as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) victorious captain at Wankhede was slightly dampened when the BCCI slapped him with a hefty INR 12 lakh fine for a slow over-rate in their IPL 2025 clash against Mumbai Indians. RCB pulled off a thrilling 12-run win over MI in a high-octane encounter on Monday. But the celebrations were short-lived as the team failed to complete their overs in the required time.
