Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar went past the legendary Sachin Tendulkar on an illustrious list with a quick-fire cameo in the RCB vs PBKS IPL 2025 clash last night. Under Patidar's leadership, RCB had a forgettable outing, with Punjab Kings swatting aside them by five wickets in a rain-marred contest.
Patidar Breaks Tendulkar's Huge IPL Record
Meanwhile, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar in a special feat, etching his name in history books. Despite managing an 18-ball 23, Patidar breached the 1000-run mark in the IPL, joining some legendary batters on an elusive list.
Patidar took only 30 innings to bring up 1000 runs in the tournament. Thus, he bettered Tendulkar, who batted on 31 occasions to attain the landmark, becoming the second-fastest batter to do so in the IPL.
The RCB skipper also became the first-ever Indian batter to score 1000 runs at an average exceeding 35 and a strike rate above 150.
RCB Sustain Worrisome Lean Patch At Home
After winning the toss and bowling first, Punjab Kings exhibited commendable performance, restricting their counterparts to a paltry total of 95 runs. In response, the visitors chased down the target with eleven balls left, courtesy of Nehal Wadhera's late blitz with the bat.
Despite showcasing remarkable cricketing prowess in away conditions, the Royal Challengers have yet to step up as a unit on their home soil. This was their third consecutive defeat at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which should compel them for introspection, with seven games left this season.
