Rajasthan Royals Qualify For IPL 2024 Play-Offs Following DC's 19-Run Win Over LSG

Rajasthan Royals (RR) became the second team to qualify for the IPL playoffs after Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 19 runs. 

With the DC win, RR secured a direct entry into the top 4, with KKR being the first to secure it. The first season winners of IPL will now aim for a top 2 finish.

Rajasthan Royals would have qualified for the playoffs on Sunday itself, but due to CSK defeating them that day, RR had to wait until Tuesday for their playoff confirmation. 

RR will secure a top 2 finish if they manage to beat PBKS in their next match at the Baraspara Stadium, Guwahati, on May 15. 


Playoff equations of IPL 2024

Rajasthan Royals have 16 points from 12 games with 8 wins, while Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) leads the league with 19 points from 13 games. KKR had already qualified for the playoffs. With LSG losing tonight, they won't be able to reach 16 points, securing RR's spot in the playoffs.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are the other two teams that could potentially score 16 points. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are still in contention for the playoffs, but DC chances are very low as they have poor net run rate (NRR). 

RCB can qualify for playoffs if they beat CSK for 18 runs if RCB bats first or if they chase down the CSK score in 18.1 overs if they are chasing. 

With their poor net run rate, LSG is nearly eliminated from IPL 2024.
