PSL 2022 | Multan Sultans post 222/3, courtesy power-hitting from Rizwan, David vs Peshawar Zalmi

Multan Sultans posted a mammoth 222/3 in 20 overs against Peshawar Zalmi in Karachi. The Sultans were off to a good start after openers Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan chipped in with a partnership of 85 runs for the first wicket.

Masood was eventually out for 35 of 25 but Rizwan continued with his onslaught and ended up getting a 53-ball 82 balls.

Later, Tim David's brisk and unbeaten 51 off 19 which included six sixes and a couple of fours and Khushdil Shah's 21* off 7 helped the side to put up a big total on the board.

"It's been a good start, happy to find my feet, nice feeling. I am happy that we got a good total, hopefully we can defend it and make five out of five. The ball was coming on nicely, we have to bowl well. Hopefully it's enough," David said after the innings.

Cricket Fraternity comes in support of Justin Langer, as latter resigns as Coach

Justin Langer stepped down as the head coach of Australia, putting an end to the uncertainty around his future for the national side. Langer was given a six-month extension but declined the offer amidst the reports of players not fond of his headmaster-like attitude. Taking the charge of the position after the infamous ball-tampering saga, Langer made Australia a likeable team within the cricketing circle. Australia won the T20 World Cup in 2021 and then laid their hands at the Ashes urn twice in his tenure. While fans have been visibly expressing their anger at the decision, venting out on soc, legendary Aussie cricketer Matthew Hayden tore apart Cricket Australia (CA) and national players, citing their lack of support for the former head coach. "If he was waiting for the current Australian cricket team to be presenting a face of care, I dare say they won't be and that's, to me, the real sadness around this," Hayden was quoted as saying to ABC Sport. "This was not a healthy process. This was a bloke (Langer) that won the Ashes, stayed back basically in Melbourne for the entire time while this dragged on for a month. The whole thing just reeks of being orchestrated from basically the moment all of this garbage started coming out in the middle of last year," the former Aussie opener blamed players for Langer's resignation. As former cricketers stood by Langer following his departure, the cricketing fraternity in Australia and around the globe also did not remain calm as they fired at CA for the poor handling of the situation, which led to the whole fiasco. Here are some of the reactions:

‘He was a bit cocky when he was a youngster’ - AB de Villiers on Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers share a very special bond. But many may not know how the seeds of their friendship were sown. The former Proteas batter re-winded the clock, opening up on his first meeting with Kohli. Revealing on the RCB podcast, De Villiers shared that his first impression of Kohli was of a 'cocky person'. With Virat quite young at that time, his aggression and attitude was quite evident and did not remain hidden to the cricketing fraternity. "We ran into each other a few times before we properly met. I knew about him, he knew about me. I said it a few times that I thought he was a bit cocky when he was a youngster, so that was my initial impression," De Villiers mentioned on the RCB podcast. "Even though I could see that he has got respect and the basics are in place, I felt like he has got a bit of swagger going in. So, I didn’t hold it against him because you need it at that point of age. We had a really short discussion, I didn’t give him any compliments or anything like that. But, I remember clearly at Wanderers when I got picked up by RCB, and it was a nice discussion of looking forward to playing together," Mr.360 added. As the South African joined the Bangalore-based franchise in 2011, his connection with Kohli instantly took off. The duo since then has smashed several records while batting with each other. "Once I got to Bangalore, the connection just kicked off straight away. Our proper friendship started when I started playing for RCB in 2011. That’s probably when we started becoming good friends," the retired batsman quoted. "I am kind of a guy where I don’t really keep in touch but for some reason with Virat, it just happens, so we stay in touch. It’s easy as he is on telly the whole time when I am at home. We both have a lot of basics in common. The way we play the game is quite similar. He is a fighter and I sort of relate to the way he plays the game and another fighter in the team, would have been great," he concluded. While Virat has been a vital part of RCB since 2008, ABD joined the team in 2011. Fans will longer see their on-field partnership as de Villiers recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
