Cricket Australia (CA) on Monday (July 18) announced a 14-player squad for the home ODI's against Zimbabwe and New Zealand.
Australia will play a three-game ODI series against Zimbabwe in Townsville starting on August 28, and will then meet New Zealand in a three-match ODI series starting from September 6.
"These series against New Zealand, the world's No.1 ranked ODI side, and Zimbabwe will be good contests and provide an opportunity to play some great cricket in the lead-up to the home summer," said Cricket Australia's National Selector George Bailey in a statement.
"The team is excited to be marking the start of a huge summer with these matches in North Queensland."
Cummins rested, Zampa returns to the squad
Australian Test captain Pat Cummins has been rested to manage his workload. Alongside Cummins, Head will also be missing the series as he will be on paternity leave.
Australia's frontline spinner Adam Zampa has been included in the squad after missing out in the last ODI series against Sri Lanka. All-rounder Ashton Agar has also been named in the squad. The left-arm spinner has recovered from a side strain that curtailed his involvement in the Sri Lanka tour.
Abbott comes back from the injury
Pacer Sean Abbott makes his return to the squad having recovered from the fractured finger he suffered in the net practice at the start of the Sri Lanka tour.
