 Pat Cummins' Australia Dethrones India To Become No.1 Test Team In Annual ICC Ranking

On May 3, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced fresh team rankings and Pat Cummins' led Australia surpassed India to become the No.1 Test team as per the latest ICC Men's Test team rankings.

The World Test Championship Final in 2023 at The Oval was largely responsible for Australia taking over India. Their stunning 209-run victory over India helped the Aussies improve their rating to 124 points.


The list features only two changes at the top of the table however rest of the teams remain unchanged with England at the fourth spot with 105 spots, South Africa at fifth position (103) followed by New Zealand (96), Pakistan (89), Sri Lanka (83), West Indies (82) and Bangladesh (53).

Although India sits at the second position with 122 points in the test rankings, they are on the top spot in both white-ball formats and moreover they have increased their lead in ODI cricket ranking to six rating points over Australia (116), even though they lost the ODI World Cup 2023 Final to them, there un-matched 10 game winning streak has a huge and in their top spot.

It must be noted that the rankings update only takes into consideration teams' performance after May of the previous season.
