Following a string of challenging performances in Asia Cup 2023, the Pakistan team is gearing up for the upcoming World Cup 2023 in India. As per the schedule, the team will leave Pakistan for India on September 25, transiting through Dubai. They are expected to touch down in Hyderabad on September 27.

Pakistan to depart for India on September 25

The team's itinerary includes some eagerly awaited matches. In their World Cup opener, the Men in Green will square off against the Netherlands on October 6. But what fans across the subcontinent are truly looking forward to is the classic cricketing showdown between Pakistan and India, slated for October 14 in Ahmedabad. Given the history, passion, and rivalry between the two nations, this is pegged to be one of the most-watched matches of the tournament.

Before the World Cup 2023 matches commence, Pakistan will test their mettle in warm-up games. The team is scheduled to play against New Zealand on September 29 followed by a match with Australia on October 3. Both these warm-up matches will be hosted at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad.

The backdrop to Pakistan's participation in this World Cup is a mix of hope and apprehension. In the recent Asia Cup 2023, despite entering the tournament as favourites, the Men in Green faced a dramatic defeat in the final stages against Sri Lanka and suffered a crushing loss to India.

Such outcomes not only dealt a blow to the team's morale but also led to internal strife. Reports suggest that captain Babar Azam expressed his disappointment with senior players, hinting at a tense atmosphere in the dressing room.

However, it's not all gloomy for Pakistan. Pacer Shaheen Afridi is emerging as a leader within the team. With his consistent performances and PSL titles to back, Afridi is staking his claim as the future leader of the squad. Nevertheless, the pressure is on. Any further hiccup in India, and Babar could potentially miss out on the captaincy.

The World Cup 2023 is viewed by many as Babar's final chance to make a lasting mark as captain. With mounting expectations, the Pakistan team will certainly be under the spotlight throughout their stay in India.
