Pakistan vs West Indies: Pakistan emerged victorious by five wickets in a closely fought affair at the first of the three ODI series against the West Indies. Chasing a daunting total, the Pakistani middle order kept calm and chased down the target with four balls to spare.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been in belligerent form with the bat in the shorter formats of the game for quite some time. His stroke-making abilities have had the spectators and the cricketing pundits in awe of the 27-year-old batter.
Azam continued his rich vein of form in white ball cricket when he made an outstanding hundred in the first One Day International against the Windies.
Babar Azam's century was his third in a row, a feat he has achieved for the second time in ODIs and thus became the first batter ever to establish this record. As a captain, he also broke Virat Kohli's record of being the fastest to 1000 runs in ODIs.
However, the brilliance of the innings was not the only thing that earned Babar a lot of praise. His gesture of handing over his man of the match award to youngster Khushdil Shah played an important cameo to ensure that his team got over the line.
His unbeaten innings of 41 off just 23 balls impressed his captain, who was initially awarded the man of the match award for an outstanding century and prompted him to hand over his MOM award to the youngster.
Babar went to the presentation area and said he wanted to give the award to Khushdil Shah. Khushdil Shah has been one of the brightest talents to have emerged out of Pakistan in recent times.
Before his international call-up, Shah performed well in the PSL for his side Multan Sultans with both bat and ball.
