Emotions ran high both on and off the field following Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) thrilling two-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday. While fast bowler Avesh Khan stole the spotlight with a clutch final over that sealed the win for LSG, it was a post-match moment involving teammate Nicholas Pooran that touched fans.

Avesh, who delivered an impressive spell of 3 for 37, including a nerve-wracking final over defending just nine runs, was seen making a video call to his mother after the match. In a behind-the-scenes video shared by LSG, Avesh’s mother was emotional during the call. 

Noticing her tearful expression, Nicholas Pooran gently teased, “Why are you crying?” Avesh translated the question for his mother, to which Pooran added with a warm smile, “No crying. Smile, smile, smile only.” He followed up with a heartfelt, “Beta good, beta bhalo,” a sweet gesture that melted hearts. Watch the video: 


Moments later, Avesh reunited with his family, embracing his parents in a heartwarming scene full of joy, pride, and relief after a pressure-filled evening.

LSG vs RR: Quick Recap 

In one of the most gripping contests of IPL 2025 so far, LSG held their nerve to defeat RR by a narrow margin of 2 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The match, played under the lights on Friday evening, kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very last ball.

Batting first after winning the toss, LSG posted a competitive total of 180/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Aiden Markram led the charge with a composed 66 off 45 deliveries. 

Chasing the target, RR put up a strong fight but fell just short, ending their innings at 178/5. Yashasvi Jaiswal anchored the chase with a fluent 74 off 52 balls, smashing five fours and four sixes, while Riyan Parag added quick runs with a 26-ball 39. However, the Royals couldn’t quite accelerate in the final overs, as LSG’s bowlers held their composure under pressure.
