Munro and Seifert retained by TKR ahead of CPL 2022

The Trinbago Knight Riders have retained New Zealand batting duo Colin Munro and Tim Seifert in their expanded squad for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. While Munro has been part of the TKR camp since 2016, 27-year-old Seifert was added to the franchise for the 2020 edition of the tournament.

USA cricketer Mohammad Ali Khan, who joined the franchise in 2018, was also among the latest signees to have retained their spot. In addition, Sri Lanka’s T20 veteran, Seekkuge Prasanna, who briefly served the TKR in 2019, will be making a return to the franchise.

Maheesh Theekshana, who made his international debut for Sri Lanka a year back, will be making his maiden CPL appearance this season. The young spinner was among the new faces roped by the TKR as they seek to claim their fifth CPL title this year.

Speaking on the recent wave of signings, TKR CEO Venky Mysore said:

“We are very happy with our overseas signings this year. The idea was to maintain the core of the team while adding a few new resources to bolster the squad for CPL 2022,”.

He continued,“We also look forward to welcoming the two Sri Lankans, Seekkuge Prasanna and Maheesh Theekshana to complete our overseas roster for TKR this year. Seekkuge, of course, has already represented us in 2019, and with Theekshana coming in, the squad for this upcoming edition is shaping up very nicely for us,” .
