‘They Can’t Play Him’ was a popular remark used by cricket-turned-commentator Naseer Hussain when India took on Pakistan in a group stage match in the 2021 T20 World Cup in UAE.

Shaheen Afridi's hostile spell of bowling blew away the top order featuring the likes of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. He later returned for the second spell to get rid of Virat Kohli. Pakistan went on to register their maiden World Cup victory over their arch-rivals by a whopping margin of 10 wickets.

Recently, the phrase once again as the former Pakistan Prime minister took to his Twitter handle to praise Shaheen for his menacing spell against India in the ongoing Asia Cup edition. Shaheen returned with very impressive figures of 4/35 against India in the group stage and picked up prize wickets of Rohit, Kohli, Pandya, and Jadeja.

His immaculate bowling with the new ball as well as the old ball helped Pakistan restrict India to just 266.

When asked about the use of this phrase to hail Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan indicated that the extraordinary talent of Pakistan's belligerent pace attack can cause massive headaches to any batting lineup from around the world including India.

"Our fast bowlers have played a crucial role in taking us to the No.1 spot. And the three fast bowlers we are talking about, they are not just going to pose difficulty for the Indian top-order but for every team. They are gifted bowlers. And if you look at our bench strength, that is also very good and that is why we have risen to the top."

The 31-year-old also admitted that his side allowed things to drift away from their grasp despite getting off to a bright start with the ball and in turn lauds the Indian batters for making a resounding recovery.

With the group stage game being washed out, all eyes are on the Super 4 fixture at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo where the rain threat looms large. With heavy rain predicted throughout the day, the rain could spoil the part for many avid cricket fans. However, the ACC (Asian Cricket Council) have kept a reserve day in place to force a result this time around.
