The Indian Premier League Auction will be held in Chennai on 18th January and as per reports in the Cricbuzz, it is learnt that there will be no quarantine rules for the franchise owners who will be attending the auction. However, they have to clear two RT-PCR tests if they have to part of the IPL 14 auctions slated to be held in Grand Chola in Chennai.
In a bulletin released by the BCCI on Wednesday, they have asked the franchise owners and the representatives to undergo a COVID test 72 hours before reaching the Auction venue and one on the day of their arrival and both reports have to come negative.
"Please note that the team members attending the player auction in Chennai will need to do an RT-PCR test 72 hours before the auction date and submit the negative report. Further, there will a test done in Chennai at the venue for the members attending the auction, details of which will be shared in due course," BCCI CEO Hemang Amin, who is also the COO of the IPL, wrote to the franchises in a mail which is in possession of Cricbuzz.
The mail further clarified to the franchises that the trading window of players closes on 11th February and will again resurface after February 18. "The Player registration for IPL 2021 Auction is in process and the Auction Register will be circulated. The trading window will remain open till seven days prior to the auction date and will close on 11th February 2021 at 5:00 PM (IST)."
As per reports in the Cricbuzz, it is learnt that only 13 members of the franchises will be allowed inside the venue. "Kindly confirm the names of your team members who will be present at the auction - maximum of 13 members of which 8 will be at the auction table and 5 will be seated in the gallery, to Anaisha (IPL official) by 5th February 2021."
Meanwhile, in a strange turn of events, no sponsor name was mentioned in the official mail which clearly indicates that IPL is still looking for a title sponsor. It must be noted that the association with Dream11 was only for a year which ended on December 31.
