IPL 2022 | 'We are so glad to have legendary mentors'- Dushmantha Chameera

Lucknow Super Giants pace-bowling spearhead Dushmantha Chameera is quite glad to work with 'legendary mentors' at the newly-formed franchise.

Lucknow Super Giants boast of a star-studded coaching set-up, with proven performers like Gautam Gambhir (mentor), Andy Flower (head coach), Andy Bichel (bowling coach), and for the Sri Lankan seamer, it's a blessing to rub shoulders with the greats of the game.

"We are so glad to have legendary mentors. As a player, it’s a blessing to play under their supervision. We learned a lot from them,” said Chameera during an exclusive interview with ANI.

Chameera has performed exceedingly well for LSG in the ongoing season

In 10 games, the Sri Lankan fast bowler has claimed nine wickets at an average of 32.78 and an economy rate of 7.97.

While he is happy with his returns thus far, the Lankan seamer is focussed at improving himself with every outing.

"Yes I am happy with my performance but I’m trying to improve in every match. In powerplay, I will try to bowl tight length and take some early wickets for the team,” he added.

Lucknow have been one of the most consistent sides of the season and they need just 1 win to confirm their spot in the playoffs.

As expected, Chameera is delighted at how things have fared so far for this team, but he also stressed on the fact that they are always focussing on improving their game, especially after the kind of defeat they suffered recently.

"Of course as a team, we are happy about our achievement. But we are always concerned about our mistakes as well because we lost a couple of matches,” he added.

He signed off by heaping praise on his skipper, KL Rahul.

“As a leader, KL Rahul tries to do his best for the team. Earning a three-digit number under his name it’s a benefit to the team. It is also a good strength for us.”

With 8 wins in 12 outings, Lucknow are currently at the second spot in the points table and they aim to secure the playoff berth when they lock horns with the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday evening.
