With IPL 2022 approaching its business end, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will look to sustain their winning run when they face struggling Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 58th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on May 11, 2022 (Wednesday). 

The Royals were at one point the top contenders for the top-two finish, but the Men in Pink suffered a couple of hiccups in between and are currently sitting at the third position in the points table. However, the former champions beat eighth-placed Punjab Kings in their most recent fixture by 6 wickets to make sure they remain in the contention to make it to the playoffs qualifications. 

The role of the finisher is up for grabs after the departure of Shimron Hetmyer

The Sanju Samson-led unit has benefited a lot from the red hot form of Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal so far this season. Shimron Hetmyer has donned the role of the finisher for RR but unfortunately, he will not be available for the Royals in this match as he returned to West Indies for the birth of his child. 

It will be interesting to see who will replace him and finish the upcoming games for them. Notably, RR needs to win two of their remaining three games to stay in the contention for featuring in the playoffs. 

The Rishabh Pant-led unit, on the other hand, saw an embarrassing 91 runs defeat at the hands of ninth-placed Chennai Super Kings in their previous encounter after a below-par batting display by their batters. 

Talking about the overall journey of the Delhi Capitals, they have been far from consistent this season. With five wins and six defeats from eleven games, they are placed at the fifth spot on the points table and are still somewhat in the contention to qualify for the playoffs. However, it isn't going to be an easy task for them as they need to win all of their remaining games with a huge margin as it might come to NRR while picking the top four.
