IPL 2022 | Ravi Bishnoi looks to emulate Chahal and Rashid

Young leggie Ravi Bishnoi has revealed that he has been closely observing compatriot Yuzvendra Chahal and Afghanistan’s spin maestro, Rashid Khan.

The Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) bowler is eyeing to inculcate and emulate the skills and tricks of wrist spin mastered by those two seniors.

While speaking to Sports Tak, Bishnoi commented, “I used to watch Anil Kumble and Shane Warne a lot when I was young. These days I am following the likes of Rashid Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal because they have been very successful in modern-day cricket, and I am trying to learn from them.”

The talented spinner lauded Chahal for having his back at all times. Bishnoi praised the Rajasthan Royals’ player for his strong temperament and calm nature.

“Chahal has been very supportive and has guided me a lot. Chahal always remains calm, and he has an idea of which balls to bowl during different situations. He is mentally very strong.”

The Rajasthan lad got his break in the IPL in the 2020 edition when he got picked by the Punjab Kings. He has fully displayed his talent; foxing established batters with his sharp googlies.

The 21-year old leg-spinner received his maiden India cap in February 2022 during the home series against the West Indies. And with the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in October-November, the youngster would be eyeing making the squad.

However, Bishnoi has his eyes currently fixed on putting up a stellar performance for LSG.

“I haven’t really thought much about making it to the T20 World Cup squad. If I get the chance then I would surely want to grab it with both hands. If I get a chance, I will give my best in the T20 World Cup. It has been a while since we won an ICC trophy.”

The backbone of LSG’s bowling also heaped praise on KL Rahul for being supportive. Before Lucknow, the right-arm bowler had also played under Rahul’s captaincy at Punjab Kings.
