Indian Premier League might allow crowd upto 25 per cent capacity in the 2022 season, reported the Times of India on Sunday, 30 January. The development comes against the background that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is trying to arrange its flagship tournament - Indian Premier League in the country.
The TOI report states that if the Covid-19 numbers in India stay in control, BCCI are looking to host the group stage of the tournament in Maharashtra, which then will move to India’s largest capacity stadium in Ahmedabad in the playoffs stage.
The tentative window for IPL at the moment is March end to May which coincides with what is projected to be the window for India’s lowering of numbers.
As it stands, United Arab Emirates will once again be India’s backup destination for IPL in case things go out of hand in the subcontinent.
