IPL 2022 | Pietersen calls Dhoni's successor 'another cool head'

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen believes that Ravindra Jadeja will make good decisions for Chennai Super Kings as 'another cool head'. This comes after Chennai Super Kings named their new captain Jadeja replacing the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni. 

"They've obviously decided that the time is right to move on from MS Dhoni, but it doesn't surprise me that they have turned to Ravi Jadeja, another cool head who will make good decisions. Jadeja is an outstanding thinker and a very experienced T20 player, so CSK has a good chance of surprising everybody again," Pietersen wrote for Betway.

Pietersen also revealed that he was not surprised by MS Dhoni's decision to hand over the Chennai captaincy to Jadeja. The CSK statement had mentioned, "MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond."

Pietersen thinks that under Jadeja, CSK will have the potential to surprise everybody. Former England cricketer also recalled how he was surprised by Chennai's performance last year. "CSK proved everybody wrong last season, including myself. There is some young blood coming through there, but they seem to have realised that experienced heads making decisions will give them an edge over everybody else. There are so many small decisions to make during a T20 match, and if you get more right than the opposition, you will generally win."

Meanwhile, Dhoni's decision has disappointed millions of fans. However, they have also welcomed Jadeja as the new Chennai Super Kings captain. Dhoni has captained CSK since its inception in 2008. This will be the first time another player will lead CSK, and it'll be interesting to see how things pan out for the new skipper.
