IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings to lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in opener

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opener on March 26, 2022 at Wankhede stadium.

“The 15th season will start on 26th March at the Wankhede stadium with a blockbuster clash between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders,” a statement from the BCCI read. 

The first double-header of the tournament will be held on March 27, 2022 where Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will be up against each other in the first encounter at Brabourne stadium and this game will be followed by the clash between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at DY Patil stadium. A total of 12 double-headers will be held during the course.

“On 27th March, the league will stage its first double-header starting off with a Day game at Brabourne where the Delhi Capitals will square off against Mumbai Indians. The DY Patil Stadium will host the clash between Punjab Kings & Royal Challengers Bangalore at night,” it added. 

The board will announce the schedule for the playoffs later on while the final is slated to take place on May 29, 2022.
