Leg-spinner Praveen Dubey has been roped in by Delhi Capitals as Amit Mishra’s replacement in Indian Premier League 2020. Mishra, the veteran spinner, was ruled out from the remainder of the league due to a finger injury.
Dubey, an Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer, plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2016 and 2017 season of the IPL but the leggie is yet to make his debut.
Dubey was one of the architects in Karnataka’s victorious campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he bagged six wickets in eight outings. The 27-year-old has played 14 T20s, bagging 16 wickets at an average of 19.12 and an economy of 6.87. Dubey joins Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Sandeep Lamichhane in the spin bowling pack of Delhi Capitals.
Dubey’s only First-class match came against Saurashtra in the 2019-2020 Ranji Trophy season. Delhi are currently without their wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, who is nursing an injury. The Shreyas Iyer-led side are currently at the top of the points table with 14 points from 9 outings.
