Following the Apex Council meeting in Mumbai on Friday, Shah announced that the three-match ODI series will now be held in January 2024.

Initially planned from June 23 to 30, the decision to reschedule the series was reached to accommodate various factors and ensure optimal conditions for both teams. Fans will now have to wait until January next year to witness the thrilling clash between India and Afghanistan.

In addition to the revised India vs Afghanistan ODI series schedule, Shah also revealed that the BCCI is diligently working on finalizing a new media rights agreement for home bilateral cricket matches. This significant deal, set to cover the next four years of cricket matches, is expected to be signed and completed by the end of August.

He further elaborated on the media rights agreement, highlighting that it will commence with the eight-match series against Australia. The series includes three ODIs scheduled prior to the ODI World Cup, followed by five T20Is after the World Cup.

“The BCCI’s new media rights deal (for bilateral matches in India) will be in place by August-end. It will start with the eight-match series against Australia (3 ODIs before the ODI World Cup & 5 T20Is after the WC)” said Shah as quoted by Insidesport.

Furthermore, Shah made an important announcement regarding the coaching staff for the Indian women's cricket team. The BCCI is planning to unveil the complete coaching staff ahead of the Asian Games 2023.

Significantly, the BCCI has granted approval for the participation of both the Men's and Women's teams in the Asian Games 2023.

“We are going to participate in the Asian Games. The Apex Council has approved the participation of our men’s and women’s teams,” concluded Shah.
