After playing white-ball series against the West Indies, India will be involved with Sri Lanka in two Tests and three T20Is in February-March.
In a recent development, the BCCI is working towards taking the Test series to Bangalore in a scenario where limiting the venues should be the priority. As per the original plans, the two Tests are to be played at Bangalore and Mohali respectively.
According to reports, the board is keen to host their third pink-ball Test match. The day-night game is expected to happen at Bangalore, ruling out Mohali due to the high possibility of dew.
Interesting, ex-skipper Virat Kohli will be playing his 100th Test match at Bengaluru if the BCCI does not tweak the current itinerary.
"There is a chance that the first two T20Is to start the tour will be played in Dharamshala before the series moves to Mohali for the third T20I and the first Test. Lucknow may miss out on hosting a T20I. Having the pink ball Test in Mohali is difficult since dew is expected to play a big role. However, BCCI is still monitoring the Covid-19 situation in the country. A final call to tweak the schedule will be taken soon," a BCCI source said as quoted by TOI.
While the red-ball games are scheduled before the T20Is, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is said to have sent a proposal to the BCCI to start the tour with the three white-ball matches in the bid to facilitate the smooth bubble-to-bubble transfer of players.
"Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has requested BCCI to play the T20I series first instead of the Test matches. The Sri Lankan team will be playing a T20I series against Australia before coming to India. It will be convenient for them to send a team which will be already in a bubble," another report stated.
