In a run feast in Karachi, the Multan Sultans etched a win by 20 runs against Islamabad United after defending a target of 218 runs.
The United team lost wickets at regular intervals but it was captain Shadab Khan who showed his mettle with the bat and held the fort strong at one end as he chipped in with a 42-ball 91 which included nine maximums and five fours.
But his efforts couldn't take the side over the line as Islamabad were bowled for 197 in 19.4 overs.
Khushdil Shah returned with a four-fer for 35 runs in 4 overs.
Earlier, in the day, Multan Sultans rode on an emphatic batting dispaly from Rossouw and Tim David to post 217/5 in 20 overs on the board.
While Rossouw remained unbeaten at 67 off 35, David was on song after he struck 71 in just 29 deliveries.
"I am really happy for Khushdil. Rizwan is very easy going. We respect him as captain and we follow his orders. He gives you the field you want, which is the best thing for a bowler. He gives his opinion as well, which is always nice as a senior player," Imran Tahir said after the match.
