ICC Women's World Cup 2022: Last two knocks have given me confidence, says Harmanpreet Kaur

Getting back among runs just before the start of the Women’s World Cup has given a lot of confidence to India batter Harmanpreet Kaur who notched up a fifty against New Zealand in the final game of the series and followed it with a ton against West Indies in the warm-up fixture.

"Yes, definitely. There were ups and downs, the hundred I got (in the warm-up) has given me confidence. Even that innings against New Zealand was very crucial for me. Now it is very important for me to continue that," Harmanpreet said in the presser.

The right-hander further said that she is focusing on doing well for the team and the last two knocks have come at a perfect time to give her confidence.

"I have high expectations of myself because I know my importance for the team. Even I want to do well, sometimes things aren't going to be in your favour,” she said.

"But the last two innings which I played gave me a lot of confidence. When things aren't in your favour, lots of people talk about it but the good part is those who are close to me have always given me confidence. I am really thankful for them because during that time it is important to get confidence. I am getting back into my rhythm and I just hope I can continue this rhythm," she added.

India begin the campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday at Bay Oval.

IND vs SL | 1st Test: Virat Kohli's 100th Test to have spectators in stands

The first Test between India and Sri Lanka in Mohali which begins on March 4, 2022 will now have fans in the stands. It was earlier decided that the clash will be held behind closed doors but the BCCI has now given permission to have spectators in the ground. "The first Test between India and Sri Lanka to be played at the Punjab Cricket Stadium in Mohali will not be held behind closed doors. The decision to allow spectators into the ground is one taken by the State Cricketing Associations and in the present circumstances, is based on various factors. I have spoken with the PCA office bearers and they have confirmed that cricket fans will be able to witness the historic moment of Virat Kohli playing his 100th Test match," Jay Shah said in a statement on Tuesday (March 1). "While we started off the West Indies Tour of India behind closed doors, the encouraging dip in COVID-19 cases allowed the hosting associations to permit crowds. Based on the advisories by the State Health Authorities fans were able to witness the games in Kolkata and Dharamsala while UPCA had Lucknow T20I without crowds owing to polling a day before the match.” Former India skipper Virat Kohli will be playing his 100th Test when he takes the field against the Lankan Lions. Shah wished luck to Kohli as he adds another feather to his hat. "I am really looking forward to Virat Kohli's 100th Test and wish our champion cricketer the very best. This is an occasion for our fans to savour. May he continue to represent the country in many more matches to come."
