Pakistan suffered another blow ahead of the series against Australia after pacer Haris Rauf tested positive for Covid-19.
The fast bowler who is yet to play a Test for the side has been put under isolation and is likely to miss the first game against the Aussie side. The fixture is scheduled to begin on Friday.
Pakistan have added Naseem Shah in the squad for the first Test against Australia.
“Naseem Shah, who was originally a travelling reserve, has been included in the Pakistan squad for the first Test against Australia after Haris Rauf was ruled out after testing positive for Covid-19,” a statement from PCB said.
Earlier, Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali were ruled out of the first Test due to respective injuries while the selectors had called-up middle-order batter Iftikhar Ahmed and fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr.
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa captain Iftikhar Ahmed and fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jnr have been included in Pakistan’s Test squad for the first match of the three-match series against Australia,” a PCB statement said.
“The two have replaced Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali who have been ruled out of the Rawalpindi Test (first of the series) due to injuries,” it added.
