ICC Women's CWC 2022 | BAN-W vs WI-W | Match 17, Preview, Prediction, Fantasy XI

In the 17th match of the 2022 Women’s World Cup, Bangladesh Women are squaring off against West Indies Women at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on March 18, 2022.

After their historic first win in the Women’s World Cup and that too in their debut edition, the Bangladesh Women will be high on confidence heading into this encounter. In their previous outing against Pakistan Women, they came on top with a nine-run victory and will be oozing with confidence at the moment.

Experienced Fargana Hoque (71) and skipper Nigar Sultana (46) added a crucial 96-run stand for the third wicket to propel the team to a competitive score. Later, they weaved a spin web against their opponents at Seddon Park as they defended 235. Fahima Khatun, who was brought into the side for this match took three important scalps, halting the progress of the opposition.

After a couple of cheeky wins early in the competition, the progress of West Indies Women have taken a massive dent by getting annihilated in back-to-back matches. In their latest game, Australia Women made light work of them but Stafanie Taylor finally came good as she was the lone warrior for her side and notched up a fighting fifty to push the score past 130. Although there was nothing much to defend they took the game till the 31st over giving the Aussies a tough fight from the bowling front.

Deandra Dottin, Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor all have performed well while Kycia Knight is yet to make her presence felt. Experienced Anisa Mohammed after being left out of the side in the previous outing will make her comeback. Moving into this game, they will look to take down the underdogs to book a berth in the knockout stages after 9 years.

Meanwhile Bangladesh Women will eye for another upset here as they face the heavyweights from the Caribbean.

ICC Women's CWC 2022 | NZW vs SAW: Marizanne Kapp anchors South Africa to win in a thriller

South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp took just three balls to turn the match against New Zealand on its head in the on-going ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 in Hamilton. She scored a boundary on the fifth ball of the penultimate over and then took a single to keep the strike as South Africa needed six off six deliveries. Kapp then struck a four on the very first ball of the over and then one for a single to bring down the equation to 1 off 4 before Ayabonga Khaka stole away a quick one to wrap the match by 2 wickets. Chasing 229, South Africa lost an early wicket but looked steady in the run chase after Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus notched up individual fifties before suffering a collapse in the middle-overs. The side lost wickets at quick intervals and were reduced to 217/8 before Kapp took the onus and anchored the team over the line. She remained unbeaten at 34 off 35. Amelia Kerr picked up three wickets for 50 runs in 10 overs. Earlier, in the day, the home side also saw a fall of wickets in the middle overs despite having a good start and left struggling at 210/6 before eventually getting bundled out for 228 in the 48th over. Devine top-scored with 93 while Kerr chipped in with 42 for the side. Ismail and Ayabonga Khaka had three wickets each to their names. “I think these games have to stop now, I'm tired. It was a team effort. We weren't at our best, but the perfect game is around the corner. We bowled better against England but we got away with it today. Our batters have been struggling, but I back them to come good,” Kapp said after the match.
