On Monday, December 9, the ICC announced the sanctions for Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head. Notably, the dup engaged in a verbal spat during the 2nd Test between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval that caused a stir on the internet.

In a press release by the ICC, Siraj has been fined 20% of his match fees and also hit with a demerit point. Meanwhile, Head has not received any reduction from his match fees, but he too has been hit with a demerit point.

Luckily for both the players, it is their first offence in 24 months that puts them out of trouble and will be available for selection for the 3rd Test in Brisbane from December 14.

What Offence Did ICC Book Siraj And Head For?

For Siraj, he was found guilty for breaching article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal."

Meanwhile, Head too was sanctioned for breaching Article 2.13 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to the “abuse of a player, player support personnel, umpire or match referee during an international match.”

What Happened Between Siraj And Head?

On day 2 of the 2nd Test, Siraj got rid of dangerous looking Travis Head, who scored 140 in the first innings. Following the dismissal, Siraj gave him an angry send off that did not go well with the Australian batter.

Head also replied to Siraj in an aggressive manner and also used foul language as he walked back towards the pavilion.
