In a significant development, Pakistan's Sidra Amin has been punished for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during Women’s World Cup 2025 match against India on October 5, 2025. The 33-year-old was charged with a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to -"abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match."

According to ICC rules, Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of the player’s match fee and one or two demerit points.

Why did ICC punish Sidra Amin?

It is important to mention that the incident occurred during the 40th over of Pakistan’s innings. After losing her wicket, Sidra Amin forcefully hit her bat onto the pitch in frustration, and this act was deemed a violation of the game's spirit and discipline standards. For her act, she was given one demerit point as this marks her first offence within a 24-month period.

The charge was brought to notice by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, along with third umpire Kerrin Klaaste and fourth umpire Kim Cotton.

Sidra Amin's on-field performance vs India Women

The group-stage match between India Women and Pakistan Women was played at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka. For 'Women In Green' Sidra Amin was a standout performer with the bat. The star batter made 81 runs off 106 balls, including 9 fours and one six.

However, her effort went in vain as the Pakistan Women’s suffered an 88-run defeat against India. India had earlier posted a total of 247 runs in 50 overs after being put in to bat. In reply, Pakistan’s innings crumbled early, losing three wickets for just 10 runs.

Pakistan Women will next face Australia Women on October 8 in Colombo and India will also face Australia on Oct 12, 2025.
