As the countdown for the high-octane World Cup begins, the International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the official anthem for the World Cup 2023 edition on Wednesday. The anthem was dubbed 'Dil Jashn Bole' which featured Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh in a lead role followed by choreographer Dhanashree Verma, who is the wife of India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

The three-minute and 22-second long anthem was composed by Pritam Chakraborty who aimed at showcasing India’s rich cricketing culture to the entire world. The song depicted a train journey through India on board the 'One Day Express'. Pritam and Ranveer expressed their delight in being a part of this monumental occasion and took immense pleasure in launching the theme song.

However, on the contrary, ICC's efforts to promote the Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 theme song took a backseat as fans expressed their displeasure following its release. The governing body found itself in the storm of criticism as fans complained that the song failed to capture the holistic emotions of cricket fans like the anthems of previous editions.

Reaction from the fans:

Moreover, fans also questioned the theme that was used during the song. The usage of a train theme did not go down very well with several users on social media. From the reaction of these passionate fans, it is quite evident that they would have preferred to see a cricket-oriented theme in that would have resonated well with them.

The World Cup tournament is all set to get underway on October 5 with defending champions England taking on the runner-up New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Whereas, the Men in India will start their campaign at a later date by facing Australia in their very first World Cup encounter on October 8 at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
