  • I Would Love To Return To My Second Hometown Ab De Villiers Confirms His Return To Rcb

"I would love to return to my second hometown", AB de Villiers confirms his return to RCB

Former South African International, AB de Villiers, has recently confirmed his intention to return to the Indian Premier League with RCB next year.

The former South Africa skipper shed light on his wish to return with RCB in 2023, at some capacity, following his teammate, Virat Kohli revealing the same during a chat in RCB Digital.

"I miss him a lot, I speak to him quite regularly and he keeps messaging me. So we stay in touch and he is very keenly watching RCB, hopefully we see him here next year in some capacity," Kohli told Danish Sait a couple of weeks back.

It is completely confirmed, the Proteas legend won't return as a player, having announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in November last year (2021). However, he could join the team as a consultant or a mentor before the start of IPL 2023.

"I am glad to hear Virat confirmed it."

While speaking to VUSports' Peeyush Sharma in their recent chat, alongside Wasim Jaffer, Mr.360 revealed his intention to return to Chinnaswamy, his "second hometown".

"I am glad to hear Virat confirmed it. To be honest, we haven't decided on anything yet. I will definitely be around the IPL next year. I am not sure in what capacity but I am missing getting back there," de Villiers told VUSport.

"I have heard a little bird tweeting, saying that there might be some games in Bangalore. So I would love to return to my second hometown and watch the full capacity stadium there at the Chinnaswamy again. I would love to return, I am looking forward to it," he added.

AB, who is regarded as one of the best the game has ever seen, began his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2008. In 2011, he was bought by the Bangalore based franchise, RCB, and the rest is history. He spent eleven seasons with RCB, scoring 4491, averaging 41.2 per game, and striking at almost 160 (158.6). With 37 fifties and two centuries, AB is RCB's second highest run-scorer in the franchise's history. He also has the record of winning the most number of "player of the match" in the history of IPL. He was inducted into the RCB Hall of Fame recently and is regarded as one of the greats of the IPL.
