IPL 2022 | 'I'm representing Gujarat so my home ground is Motera'- Wriddhiman Saha

Veteran Bengal wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has made it clear that the upcoming playoff fixture against Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens will be an "away" game for him.

Saha, who made his First Class debut for Bengal at the iconic Eden Gardens in 2007, has played all his cricket at the venue as a local boy, but recent fallout with the state association means that he may no longer do that in the near future.

Saha represents the Gujarat Titans in the ongoing IPL, and for him, Motera and not Eden is his home ground.

"Here, I'm representing Gujarat, so my home ground is Motera Stadium. I believe in that. Since I'm no longer with KKR, the Eden is not my home," Saha said ahead of the Qualifier 01 fixture against RR.

Earlier this year, Saha skipped the group stage of the Ranji Trophy for Bengal due to personal reasons, and when he was named in the squad for the quarterfinal, the 37-year-old pulled out of the game.

This led to CAB assistant secretary Debabrata Das questioning his commitment.

Saha has been picked in the Bengal squad for the upcoming knockout fixtures, but it remains to be seen whether he will turn up for his home team.

The Indian stumper refused to answer when asked about his decision regarding the same.

"I'm not able to answer the second part of your question. I might have played a lot of games here in the past, but I'm here to play an away game."

Saha has done an excellent job at the top of the order for the Titans.

In 9 games, he has scored 312 runs at an average of 39 and a strike rate of 124.8.

GT will take on Rajasthan in the first Qualifier at Eden Gardens on Tuesday, May 24.
