Henry Hunt inks two-year deal with Adelaide Strikers

The Adelaide Strikers have announced the signing of the South Australian batter Henry Hunt. Hunt will now stay with the Strikers until 2024.

The Southern Australian skipper made his Big Bash League (BBL) debut for the Strikers last season, coming in as a replacement player for Alex Carey.

Awarded Sheffield Shield Player of the Year, Hunt expressed his excitement to extend his association with the Adelaide-based club.

“I am really happy to have signed with the Strikers for the next two seasons. I loved being with the group last summer and am looking forward to getting back into the BBL.

“To play at Adelaide Oval is something I never take for granted – it is an amazing place to play cricket and we’re all excited to put on a show for the fans this year,” Hunt said in a statement released by the club.

He played 6 games in BBL 2021-22 scoring 102 runs.

Coach Jason Gillespie welcomed the youngster into the setup again.

“Absolutely delighted that Hunty is back at the Strikers. He got a taste of Big Bash cricket last summer and we thought he handled the occasions really well. It is still early days in his career, and it is a fantastic opportunity for his development, and we look forward to having him for many years to come.

“He has had a taste of captaincy, a taste of international cricket and this is another exciting piece of the puzzle for Henry to continue taking his game to another level. Henry brings so much to the table, not just on field with the bat and in the field, but also with his work ethic,” the former Australian bowler said.

Hunt won the Neil Dansie Medal following his prolific batting performances in the domestic season last year.

Having struck three First-Class centuries in Shield cricket last year, Hunt finished as the joint third-highest run-scorer (601) behind Peter Handscomb (697) and Sam Whiteman (641).

The Cowra-born has played 27 FC matches, scoring 1,924 with seven centuries and six fifties.

The 25-year-old made his List A debut for Australia A last month on their tour of Sri Lanka, where he scored 107 runs in a match-winning chase of 367.
