CWG 2022: Natalie Sciver believes England are well placed to beat Australia

Fresh from a clean sweep in the T20I series against South Africa, England Women are gearing up for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022 with confidence and form.

It will be the first time women's cricket will feature in the Birmingham-hosted event.

Stand-in captain Natalie Sciver believes that England have what it takes to beat their arch-rivals Australia in the tournament.

"I think we have settled on the way we want to play - having that aggression with bat and ball, especially in the powerplay. Hopefully that puts us in a good position for the Commonwealth Games. I think this is our best chance [to beat Australia]," Sciver was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

Sciver, who is standing in for the injured Heather Knight, spoke about how the English side is enjoying their cricket.

Several newcomers were given chances in the T20I series, with the senior pros rested.

"People have really taken their chances. I think that's the most exciting thing - everyone has contributed and had their moments. It's probably the most fun I have had on the pitch in a long time and when you are enjoying cricket you are probably playing well as well. It is infectious," she explained.

The England management are racing against time to have Knight fit for their tournament opener on Saturday against Sri Lanka. They are in Group B with New Zealand, South Africa, and Lanka.

Australia are in Group A with IndiaPakistan, and Barbados

The first match will be played between T20 and 50-overs World Champions Australia and India on July 29.

The semi-finals will be played on August 6th and the final on August 7th.
