Indian fast bowling coach Morne Morkel has confirmed that the fitness of all-rounder Hardik Pandya and star opener Abhishek Sharma will both be assessed prior to the Asia Cup 2025 final match against Pakistan on September 28 in Dubai. It is worth noting that both cricketers suffered from cramps on the field during India’s final Super Four match of the tournament against Sri Lanka owing to the intense heat. Even in the absence of Hardik Pandya for a major part of the second innings, Team India won the match in a thrilling Super Over contest to remain unbeaten in the Asia Cup.
Sanju Samson rewarded with Impact Player vs SL
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was named the Impact Player in the dressing room after the ‘Men in Blue’ secured a thrilling win over Sri Lanka to cap their Super Four stage of the 2025 Asia Cup. Batting at his unusual position of number five, Samson clubbed three huge sixes and a boundary in his blistering 23-ball knock of 39. His slog-overs cameo helped Team India mount a commendable 202-5 in 20 overs despite losing plot to some extent during the middle stages of the innings.
Bangladesh to stay back in UAE despite early Asia Cup 2025 exit, Litton doubtful
The Bangladesh cricket team will stay back in the UAE despite suffering an early exit from the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup. The team is currently scheduled to face Afghanistan in a three-match T20I and a three-match ODI series in the UAE between October 2 and October 14.
While the T20I series will be hosted by the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah, the ODI segment of the tour will be staged at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Another report suggests that Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Das remains a doubtful starter for the series owing to his back strain.
Sunil Joshi leaves Punjab Kings to become BCCI CoE coach
Former Indian cricketer and ex-RCB star Sunil Joshi is set to become the new bowling coach at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The 55-year-old will be replacing Sairaj Bahutale as the new spin bowling coach and is expected to assume command from October 1 onwards. Joshi’s ascension will also mean that he will have to leave his role at the Punjab Kings franchise. The former cricketer served the Punjab Kings as their spin bowling coach and worked alongside head coach Ricky Ponting earlier this year during the IPL 2025 season.
Rahul Chahar takes 10 on Surrey debut in County 2025
Discarded Indian spinner Rahul Chahar completed a sensational eight-wicket haul for Surrey in their final 2025 County Championship Division One match against Hampshire in Southampton. Defending mere 181 runs for a win, Chahar delivered the knockout blow with the wicket of Hampshire’s well-set batter James Fuller, finishing with figures of 8-51 from his 24 overs.
