Glenn Phillips Replacement: Dasun Shanaka Set To Replace NZ Star In Gujarat Titans

In a significant development, there are reports that former Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka is set to join Gujarat Titans as replacement for the remainder of the season. As reported by Newswire, Shanaka will soon join the squad.

Notably, Glenn Phillips, who was bought by Gujarat Titans at the mega-auction for 2 crores, failed to get any game time. However, he came to field against SRH, where he injured his groin in the field and that led to the end of his IPL 2025 journey. 

Shanaka To Replace Phillips

Gujarat waited for several days, but now it looks like Shanaka is the one who will replace Phillips in the team, who has returned to New Zealand following the injury. However, it is worth noting that Gujarat are yet to officially announce any replacement for Phillips. 

Talking about Shanaka, it would be his second stint with Gujarat Titans as he he also played for 2022 winners in the 2023 season. Further, looking at Shanaka's numbers, he had a great ILT20, where he amassed 164 runs in 10 innings, averaging 27. Also, Dasun took four wickets in that league. 

Talking about Gujarat Titans, they will next play against Delhi Capitals in the afternoon game on April 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Further, Gujarat have had a great season so far as they are 2nd on the table with 8 points in six matches.
