Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is facing significant pressure following two disappointing ICC tournament exits. Under his leadership, Pakistan failed to reach the knockout stages of the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Babar's captaincy is now under intense scrutiny, making it increasingly difficult for him to maintain his position. With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 approaching, the Pakistan Cricket Board is in a dilemma over whether to retain Babar Azam as captain or make a change.

Amidst these tensions, former Pakistan player Atiq-uz-Zaman accuses Babar Azam and his team of prioritizing personal goals and agendas over collective teamwork. He believes this approach is a key reason for the current crisis in Pakistan cricket.

"Random people at the start thinking their personal goals their personal agendas and this is what happened they forget they are here to play cricket and cricket is not an individual game and even out of 11 players one person is playing for themselves can harm the team and that's what happening to Pakistan," Zaman spoke.

Atiq-uz-Zaman had also criticized Shaheen Afridi for misbehaving with Mohammad Yousuf. Many former Pakistan players have publicly criticized Babar Azam, including Ahmed Shehzad, who was particularly vocal during the T20 World Cup.

He continues to express his discontent, and former opener Salman Butt has joined him in these critiques. Butt has suggested that Shan Masood would be an ideal replacement for Babar Azam as captain across all formats.

Salman Butt overlooked players like Rizwan and Shaheen, who are regulars in the Pakistan team, in favor of selecting Masood.
