On Monday, February 24, New Zealand locked horns against Bangladesh in match 6 of Champions Trophy 2025 at the Rawalpindi Stadium. The Tigers were asked to bat first, and the decision turned out to be a disastrous one. 

The Tigers kept losing wickets from one end, but skipper Najmul Shanto led from the front and played a heroic knock. Najmul, who opened for his side, amassed 70 runs at the time of writing this article and is eyeing to post a big total on the board.

Why Will Shanto Not Feature In IPL 2025?

It is worth noting that Shanto can't play IPL 2025 and found no bidders as he didn't register for the mega-auction. It is worth noting that Shanto has never featured in IPL, and the wait has to be long for his fans to see their star in the IPL. 

Further, for those thinking about Shanto replacing a player as a replacement, then that too isn't possible because of the rules set by the BCCI. The rules clearly state that for a team to replace an injured player, it need to go unsold in the mega-auction or have his name registered in the players' list released by the BCCI, and since Shanto failed to do both, he won't be seen in IPL 2025.

Talking about the ongoing match, Shanto returned to the pavilion with a score of 77 (110), which featured nine fours.
