ENG vs IND | Yuvraj Singh hails Rohit Sharma’s return to form

Rohit Sharma smacked five sixes in his match-winning 76* against England at The Oval. The cricketer's innings marked the 45th half-century of his ODI career but only his third 50-plus ODI score since the conclusion of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

The Indian captain has endured a lacklustre IPL 2022, scoring just 268 runs in 14 Mumbai Indians matches to mark his worst seasonal campaign across all 15 editions of the tournament.

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh welcomed Sharma's return to form. Taking to Twitter, he praised Jasprit Bumrah's opening spell against the English top-order and hailed the Indian captain for his run-chase special in the second half.

Team India claimed the opening honours of their three-match ODI series against England. After bowling out the hosts for just 110 inside 26 overs, captain Sharma and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan cantered themselves to an easy 10-wicket win.

Bumrah was adjudged as the 'Player of the Match' for his sublime opening gambit. He removed Jason Roy, Joe Root for ducks and in-form batter Jonny Bairstow for just 7. Then, the speedster came back to mop up the tail and finished with figures of 6-19.

The Men in Blue will now face the hosts in the second ODI of the series on July 14. The match is slated to be played at Lord's in London, and the action will commence from 5:30 PM IST onwards.
