ENG vs IND | Wouldn't Be Surprised If England Scores 400 vs India: Michael Vaughan

The three-match ODI series between India and the Three Lions is all set to get underway from Tuesday (July 12) at Kennington Oval, London.

England will be eager to rectify the blunders they had committed in the T20I series and would be wishing for a promising start to their ODI series being the World Champions.

The Jos Buttler-led side will be further bolstered by the return of Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, and Joe Root. They missed the T20I series and had a terrific outing in the rescheduled fifth Test against the visitors in Edgbaston.

Speaking to Cricbuzz ahead of the much-anticipated ODI series, the former England captain Michael Vaughan asserted that there is a high possibility of Englishmen breaching the 400-run mark against the Men in Blue, with the surface expected to be flat.

"England will be strong, and the wicket will be flat. England scored 498 against the Netherlands, which won't be possible against India, but it wouldn't surprise me to see 400 being scored," he said to Cricbuzz.

It will be the first time the reigning World Champions will play with their full-fledged batting line-up since the final of the 2019 World Cup.

Vaughan, while opening up on the playing combination of England, said that one couldn't be sure of the line-up the hosts will deploy, given they've enough firepower in their batting.

"Livingstone will be there somewhere as well. You are never quite sure what the line-up will be, but they (Root, Bairstow & Stokes) will all play. Just watch out for Brydon Carse, the fast bowler from Durham. He bowls quickly. He has an angle similar to Gleeson, so he will play a game or two,"

The former English skipper also opined that Jos Buttler might end up batting down the order to acclimate Joe Root at number 3. He also shed light on the opening pair the hosts are likely to come up with in the 50-Over format.

"Roy and Bairstow will open in 50-over cricket with the glue Joe Root at No. 3. Then it's all about picking out the hat and what combinations they have, could be Ben Stokes, could be Livingstone, Moeen Ali or Harry Brook. Jos Buttler might bat at No. 4 in 50-over cricket," Vaughan concluded.
