ENG vs IND | BCCI confirms injuries of Virat Kohli and Arshdeep Singh ahead of first ODI

The Indian cricket team has suffered massive setbacks ahead of the England ODIs, as Virat Kohli and Arshdeep Singh have been ruled out of the first game owing to injuries.

While Kohli has sustained a groin injury, Arshdeep has strained his right abdomen.

BCCI’s official twitter handle surfaced this news just before the start of the first ODI at the Oval.

The tweet informed that Kohli and Arshdeep were not considered for the first ODI because of their respective injuries. It further revealed that the BCCI medical team is monitoring them as further details are awaited.

“UPDATE: Virat Kohli and Arshdeep Singh were not considered for selection for the first ODI against England. Virat has a mild groin strain, while Arshdeep has a right abdominal strain. The BCCI medical team is monitoring them,” the tweet read.

Virat Kohli hasn’t been at his best on the cricket field for a long time now.

The Delhi-born batter averages a mere 22.3 in white-ball cricket in 2022, suggesting his abysmal form in the formats he once ruled.

Therefore, the series against the Englishmen could have been a fantastic opportunity for Kohli to regain his touch. Now, with the emergence of this injury, his participation in the series is in jeopardy.

On the other hand, Arshdeep had a fantastic chance to test himself against the best ODI batting unit in the world. The left-arm seamer was pretty impressive in the first England T20I in Southampton as he picked two wickets at a surreal economy of 5.1.
