Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, have added Sediqullah Atal to their squad as the official replacement of Harry Brook. The English star pulled out of IPL 2025 due to personal reasons before the start of the season, but the franchise did not name a replacement for 11 games. However, with playoffs qualification on the line, they have decided to bring in an Afghan youngster to strengthen their top order.
Afghanistan Youngster Gets Maiden IPL Contract From DC
Sediqullah Atal is a 23-year-old left-handed opening batter and has played for Afghanistan across formats in recent times. He has been pretty consistent in T20s and has 1507 runs in the shortest format at an average of 34.25 and strike-rate of 131.27. He also has 13 fifties in the format, and can be a valuable addition for DC at a price of INR 1.25 Crore.
The Afghan batter recently played few games in SA20 and impressed with a fifty as well, and now this maiden IPL call is another big step in right direction for the young cricketer. Delhi Capitals' IPL 2025 campaign has gone downhill in the second half, as they have won just one game from their last five encounters. One of the problems for DC has been the failure of the top-order and thus, they have decided to rope in an opener as a late replacement of Harry Brook.
Sediqullah though is not likely to be available for DC's next game against Punjab Kings, and can be seen in action against Gujarat Titans on May 11.
