Ahead of the start of 'The Hundred' tournament, Manchester Originals have dealt a heavy blow as reports indicate that Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the tournament because of a calf injury.

Buttler, who was set to lead Manchester Originals, is likely to be out for around six weeks, as reported by the Telegraph.

Not just Manchester, but England team are also panicking over the 33-year-old's injury as they have a crucial T20I series coming up against Australia in September.

Notably, England will host Australia for a three-match T20I and five-match ODI series at home from September 11.

Jos Buttler's Future as England Captain Doubtful

It is a big blow for Buttler himself as he is likely to be removed as England's white-ball captain. Notably, Jos led the Three Lions to T20 World Cup 2022 title but since then, England suffered embarrassments in 2023 World Cup and T20 World Cup 2024. Even, the players had cut short their stint in IPL to focus on World Cup.

In the recent reports, they suggest that ECB director Rob Key will hold a talk with Buttler over his future as England captain.

Not just Buttler, but white-ball head coach Mattew Mott's position is also in danger.

The board has not hinted at possible replacements for Buttler in the white-ball set-up but talking about the Hundred, then Phil Salt is likely to replace Jos as Manchester Originals' captain.
