On September 5, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce their squad for the ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to take place in India from next month onwards. It will be interesting to see if KL Rahul, who has been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2023's opening two matches due to fitness concerns, will be included or not.

On Saturday, BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar flew to Sri Lanka and met with captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid to finalize the squad. The timing of the announcement, as they did for the Asia Cup, will remain the same, at 1:30 PM IST.

There should not be any changes in the Men in Blue squad, who are currently in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup. Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj among others are all expected to be retained, while Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the pack in an aim to replicate the same what MS Dhoni did in 2011.

Several months ago, India suffered multiple injuries, with Bumrah, Shreyas, Rahul, and Rishabh Pant all undergoing rehabilitation. The current situation, however, is not as bad as it was in the past.
