In order to resume international cricket in the country and convince its West Indies counterpart to tour for a bilateral series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has come up with a board comprehensive plan to combat the covid-19 pandemic. The BCB is considering shortening the quarantine period to seven days from currently existing 14 days for the Windies side after their arrival in the country.
"We have sent our Covid-19 management plan to the West Indies and are waiting to know if they are fine with it or have any observations regarding our proposal. After receiving their (WICB) input, we will send it to our ministry for government approval and that would allow us to resume international cricket after a long gap... which has proved quite costly for us considering we lost the chance to play a lot of Test matches in 2020,'' BCB Cricket operation chairman Akram Khan said on November 07.
The West Indies side under the leadership of Jason Holder is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh for two-match long Test series and three-match ODI series. The latest move to amend quarantine provisions outlines the efforts of BCB to get the international series that were cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic back on track.
