BBL 2021-22: Ben Dwarshuis rattles Melbourne Renegades as Sydney Sixers etch comfortable win

Sydney Sixers rode on a fine performance from the bowling unit to etch a win against the Melbourne Renegades in Geelong on Tuesday. Chasing 151 in 20 overs, the Renegades were bundled out for 105 in 17 overs to lose the match by 45 runs.

The Sydney side got some early wickets, courtesy Sean Abbott and Jackson Bird but Shaun Marsh who had come in at number three tried to hold the fort at one end with a 36-ball 39.

But Marsh kept losing partners at the other side of the wicket and soon departed himself when the team score read 68. On the other hand, Sydney’s Ben Dwarshuis rattled the middle and lower order of the opponents with a five-wicket haul.

He eventually returned with figures of 5/26 in 4 overs. Apart from him, Abbott scalped a couple of wickets while Bird, Murphy and Kerr had one each to their names.

Earlier, Sydney Sixers were off to a dismal start with the bat after Philippe was dismissed for a three-ball duck but Jack Edwards and Henriques played a crucial role in getting the side back on track.

While Edwards scored 40 off 34, Henriques notched up a 35-ball 49 as the Sydney Sixers managed to put 150/6 in 20 overs on the board. Boyce was the pick of bowlers for his side after he returned with figures of 2/15 in 4 overs.
