Barbados Royals make an official statement
Notably, this will be the first time that Tector will be trying his hands at franchise cricket. The batter has spent the majority of his cricket career so far representing Northern Knights and Leinster Lightning in the Ireland domestic tournaments.
The Royals took to their official Twitter handle on Friday to announce the news of Tector getting on board for the T20 Championship.
“We've signed Ireland's Harry Tector as a short-term replacement for Mujeeb Ur Rahman until he arrives!” the franchise tweeted.
A glance at Tector’s international numbers
Tector has been no less than a revelation for Ireland in white-ball cricket. The middle-order batter has taken the cricket fraternity by storm owing to his splendid power-hitting abilities.
He showed signs of brilliance in the two-match T20I series against India. He continued his fine performance against New Zealand as well.
Speaking of his overall performance, Tector has amassed 673 runs T20I runs in 37 games at a strike rate of 131.2. With such good numbers, the Dublin-born is expected to do well in West Indies’ franchise cricket as well.
