Bangladesh are scheduled to play five T20Is in Pakistan, starting from May 25. However, the recent tensions between India and Pakistan has created doubts over the future of the tour. BCB has stated that they have still not decided, and as quoted by Cricbuzz, Bangladesh are only planning to tour UAE for two T20Is as of now.
Bangladesh Remain Uncommitted On Pakistan Tour
The first match of the tour of UAE will be played on May 17, while the second game will be played on 19. The initial plan of BCB was that the team will travel directly from UAE to Pakistan, but the plans took the backseat when tensions rose between India and Pakistan. The BCB statement says that they are continuing their commitment to international engagement and preparation.
"As part of its continued commitment to international engagement and preparation, the Bangladesh National Team will tour the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a two-match T20 International series against the host nation as scheduled. The series is set to commence next week," BCB said in a statement.
BCB has stated that they have been in talk with PCB, and the security of players and support staff remains their top priority. They have further explained that the final decision will be taken after considering the situation in Pakistan.
"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in active and ongoing discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the Bangladesh National Team's forthcoming tour of Pakistan. The BCB wishes to reiterate that the safety and security of its players and support staff remain the Board's highest priority. All decisions concerning the tour will be made with careful consideration of the current situation in Pakistan, ensuring they align with the best interests of the team and Bangladesh cricket."
Currently, cricket has been stopped in both Pakistan and India, and thus, Bangladesh travelling to Pakistan for a bilateral series looks quite difficult.
