  • Ban Vs Sl 2Nd Test Day 4 Angelo Mathews Whips 13Th Test Ton Dinesh Chandimal Smacks 12Th Hundred

BAN vs SL | 2nd Test Day 4 | Angelo Mathews whips 13th Test ton; Dinesh Chandimal smacks 12th hundred

The ongoing two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka has been nothing but a run-fest for batters, with hardly any support for the bowlers in heated conditions. Former Sri Lankan captains Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal are making the best use of this opportunity and dishing out hundreds quite comfortably.

Mathews recorded his 13th red-ball century for Sri Lanka during their first innings in the Dhaka Test, which helped the visitors take the lead in the post-lunch session on Day Four. The all-rounder scored his hundred in 274 deliveries, which included two sixes and four fours.

This was his second ton of the series, having scored a brilliant 199 in the first Test at Chattogram. This is also the right-hander’s second Test ton against Bangladesh.

In doing this, he became the third Sri Lankan and 14th batter in the history of the game to get dismissed on 199 joining the likes of Kumar Sangakkara, Steve Smith, Faf du Plessis, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Mohammad Azharuddin, amongst others.

Amongst active Sri Lankan players, he is just behind current skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, who has 14 Test tons to his name but is overall ninth in the list, closely followed by Dinesh Chandimal, who scored his 12th ton in the same Test as Mathews.

Chandimal’s scored his 12th hundred in 181 balls, with nine 4’s and one 6. It was also his fifth against the Bangla Tigers in whites.

Speaking of the second game, Sri Lanka, thanks to hundreds from the duo of Mathews and Chandimal, have taken a 122-run lead against Bangladesh, who were bundled out for 365 after electing to bat first.
