From winning five consecutive games to losing as many on the trot, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have had a fascinating season this Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, eventually occupying the eighth position in the table with 12 points.

Head coach Tom Moody pin-pointed injuries to key players like Washington Sundar and T Natarajan as one of the main reasons that adversely affected SRH plans in batting and bowling.

Speaking to SRH's YouTube channel, Moody stated, "The injuries that we had in the middle of the tournament with Washington Sundar and Natarajan really threw us a little bit. We found it difficult to recapture that winning momentum."

Sundar, who was purchased in the mega auction for INR 8.75 cr, featured in nine just games for Hyderabad, picking six wickets and scoring 101 runs after run-ins with multiple injuries amidst this season. On the other hand, Natarajan played a part in 9 games, contributing 18 wickets.

"We've has featuredty to work on. There's no question of that. And we are aware of that. We would have liked to have found ourselves further up the table. But a couple of incidents in the middle phase of this tournament just threw us a little bit,"

"That game against GT, where we lost in the last couple of overs when they chased down what we thought at the time, was going to be a near-impossible task. But it shows you the nature of T20 cricket," concluded the Ex-Australian cricketer.

Not everything has been gloomy for SRH this season. Indian talents like Umran Malik, Rahul Tripathi, and Abhishek Sharma have been exceptional for the Sun-owned club this season.

From Punjab, Sharma, 21, scored the most runs (426) for them, while Tripathi came in a close second with 413.

Malik's sheer pace helped him scalp 22 wickets this season, the fourth-highest this IPL, which earned the lad from Jammu his maiden Indian call-up for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa.
